How to do Japan's airport procedures online - 2023
If you come to Japan on and after May 8th 2023, you no longer need vaccination certificate or PCR test according to official information from Ministry of Health Labor and Welfare of Japan, but the online airport procedures are here to stay. And this article, I'm going to show you step by step how to get them done online before you come to Japan and that mean everything is going to be smoother and faster.
Short-term Visa and an exemption agreement - Japan
Firstly, to enter Japan, you will need to have a Visa. But if your country has a Visa exemption agreement with Japan you only need your passport and if your country not have a Visa exemption agreement with Japan, you need to apply it for a Visa via Japan Embassy in your country or apply it online if you are eligible.

With the new regulation effective from May 8th 2023, you no longer need to submit vaccination certification or PCR test results that means, when you arrive at an international airport in Japan, you have to go through only 2 checkpoints

What is "Visit Japan web"?
Visit Japan web is a website by the government of Japan developed to make it possible for those entering Japan to do airport procedures online in advance so purpose to make sure you don't have to wait long time at the airport. These are how you can do Japan Airport procedures online before you go.

* But be caution, many scams create a similar website, mobile app to steal your information. The government of Japan provides only website end with *.go.jp domain and no android app or iOS app.
1. Create an account, Activate and provide your information: You need to create your account by provide your email address and set up a password to that particular account for using Visit Japan web website. A website will need you going to activate your account and provide your information like
- Japanese passport?
- Re-entry permission?
- Question about Tax-free QR-code
2. Register your passport:
The next step is to register your passport information, and you can do by scanning your passport using your phone camera or you can choose to manually enter the passport information yourself. If you bring family who cannot enter information by themselves, you can enter their information up to 10 family members.
2. Register your arrival:
This information to let them know the day you plan to come
- Arrival date
- Your airlines and flight number

- Your home address
- The purpose of your visit
- Duration of stay
And when you complete on this section, the procedure status will turn to "Registered" and you will be able to display the QR code for immigration.
