How does Japan celebrate christmas?

A number of roughly 1% of Japan's population clams to be Christian and December 25th is not a public holiday, but the Christmas season does still exist, and you can see in public commercialized form while you are here. It's like Christmas back home in Europe or North America - you've got the decoration, the music, the Christmas trees and the KFC bucket.

Coming of Age Ceremony day for new adults

Seijin n o hi or Coming of Age day is held every year on the second Monday of January to celebrate "new adults" for those who have turned 20, or are turning 20 in the current school year gather for Seijin Shiki - the Coming-of-Age ceremony.

It's like graduating childhood and entering adulthood, but more than anything it's like a modern day Kimono fashion show. The girl who became women in this day were absolutely gorgeous in their furisode kimonos. Furisode are kimonos with long sleeves, beautiful color with exquisite pattern, originally worn by unmarried women. But nowadays, no restrict rules, so you can be older and married still wear a furisode. These kinds of a symbol of "Seijin no hi" and a style often worn by younger women - back in Edo period (1600s - late 1800s) Japanese women didn't have wedding rings to show marital status, they have furisode kimonos to show which status they are.

So what does becoming an adult entail? In Japan, Being 20 here in Japan is a big deal because you're legal basically in every aspect - you can drink, can smoke, you can vote and whether you choose to do those things or not is up to you - that basically in the Japan culture, you are able to make your own decisions.

Rotenburo (Outdoor hot springs)

There are 2 of my favorite hot springs or onsen, in Japanese they are Nyuto onsen, and Shirahone onsen, all of them are located on remote area which very inconvenient places, but they are filled with atmosphere that outdoor onsen enthusiasts will definitely fall in love with. All they take a mixed bath. Some people may find it a bit uncomfortable, but of course there area separated baths as well for men and women, so don't get too worried.

Nyuto onsen:
Locate: Akita
The shortest distance (air line) between Tokyo and Akita is 279.39 mi (449.63 km) and 346.80 mi (558.12 km) according to the route planner.

Shirahone onsen:
Locate: Nagano
Locate: Shirahone Onsen is an onsen hot-spring village tucked deep inside the steep, forested valleys of Chubusangaku National Park.

Japan’s Biggest Snow Festival

Sapporo has the second-highest snowfall of any city on the planet, and every year, over two million people descend upon the city to experience its legendary snow festival. You can eat, drink, wander around through the city and getting serenaded by random people. If you love snow; I pretty sure you will be impressed by it.

PS. Be careful, your hair may be starting to get frosty, and your eyelashes will be frozen even on daytime.
